EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS OF kinderKALENDARS® BY AGE GROUP

At 3 years of age:

  • The daily routine of a parent, caregiver, or teacher advancing the calendar to the new day and pointing to the imagery while saying the vocabulary out loud in both English and Spanish, French, or Mandarin, etc, creates a bonding experience between adult and child.
  • The daily routine of announcing the month, day of the week, and date builds aural recognition and enhances receptive speech.
  • Daily routine strengthens expressive speech because children imitate and repeat what they’ve heard spoken by the adult.
  • Over time, children who are testing out newly acquired gross and fine motor skills will delight in advancing the calendar by themselves — what a satisfying sound and task’ it is to tear off that sheet of paper!
  • Daily routine strengthens letter, number, and color recognition skills.

At 4 to 5 years of age:

  • All of the above plus…
  • Strengthening of word and pattern recognition skills (emergent reading).

At 6 to 7 years of age:

  • All of the above plus…
  • Strengthening of independent task completion (i.e., children will do the routine themselves without the supervision of a parent).
  • Offers first-born children an opportunity to instruct younger siblings.

VOCABULARY RECAP PAGES

  • On the last day of every month, animals introduced in prior months come back to ‘roam the page’ — allowing for a review of animals and colors learned earlier in the year.
